the Hon. Ian MacFarlane

Minister for Industry, Tourism and Resources, The Hon Ian Macfarlane MP, said the PharmCare software package supported the daily needs of a clinical pharmacist by providing clinical information and a knowledge base that provides better management of medications.

"It has all the patient's medical details which can be easily updated, such as adverse drug reactions, medications, and a range of standard reports that can be printed, stored as a file or sent electronically to another location," Mr Macfarlane said.

"And because all the data is documented in the same location, reports can draw from any number of these sources in whatever combination required, such as a monthly report that matches where the pharmacists' time was spent."

Mr Macfarlane said that over the past decade the role of a pharmacist had changed. They no longer practise solely to provide medications for patients. They are now involved with ensuring hospital patients are prescribed appropriate medications, and receive them correctly.
