John Elkerton - Director and CEO
John is the founder and CEO of Healthcare Software. John completed his pharmacy degree in 1992 and has worked in several public hospitals, including:
- Royal Hobart Hospital
- Launceston General Hospital
- Townsville General Hospital , Queensland
- Saint Mary's Hospital , UK
John spent five years as IT manager at the Royal Hobart Hospital where he was responsible for all applications of pharmacy IT. In this role he became intimately familiar with the IT requirements of clinical pharmacy.
John has also been a contributor to Health Connect and MediConnect through the Expert Advisory Group and Working Party and has represented Tasmania at summits on electronic prescribing, decision support systems, adverse drug reaction reporting and other health IT related issues.
John has worked with the Australian Council for Safety and Quality in Health Care, which leads national efforts to improve the safety and quality of health care provision in Australia .
As CEO, John oversees all the daily operations of the company, using his experience, expertise and industry presence to direct the company through a period of significant growth.
Rob Wells - Chief Operations Officer
Rob joins our team after spending 9 years with Sonic Healthcare as their Group IT Manager. Rob has over 25 years of broad experience in all facets of IT delivery including software development, infrastructure, project management, service delivery and financial management. His track record displays an aptitude for successful project management of complex IT projects.
Rob's previous role at Sonic Healthcare involved the management and development of the companies computing assets, including 5,500 screens, hosts, and applications. His experience and knowledge is an invaluable resource in facilitating Healthcare Software's expansion and development.
Martin Rees - Director
Martin is a partner of KPMG in Tasmania where he, along with one other, runs the entire consulting practice. He is also a qualified accountant with a particular interest in the health industry.
He is a Director of St Luke's Health Insurance of Tasmania and he has undertaken many consulting projects in the health sector. He is also a Director of ICIER Solutions, which is focused on IT solutions for the aged care industry.
Martin is a Board Director of Healthcare Software and actively monitors the short-term progress and long-term prospects of the company. He brings to the company significant business expertise, through his management of other enterprises, while his corporate experience within the health sector is particularly valuable.
Ian McDonald - Director
Ian has been a Director and Business Development Manager of ICS, one of the largest software development companies in Tasmania , for over 10 years. He has overseen the commercialisation of all software developed by the company during this period.
Ian plays quite an active role in the day to day operations of Healthcare Software, providing valuable marketing and ICT expertise. As a founding partner and business manager of ICS, he has experience in building a successful, international enterprise from a small software company. This is proving valuable as Healthcare Software continues to grow.
Larry Podmore - Business Manager
Larry has worked in a wide range of roles in the IT industry over a period of 32 years. He was a software developer, a trainer and a project manager at a Federal government agency for 12 years; IT Manager at the Tasmanian Hydro-Electric Commission for 4 years; and a Tasmanian Sales Manager for Digital Equipment Corporation for 8 years.
Larry is the Business Manager of Healthcare Software and has considerable influence over the strategic direction of the company. His experience in sales and IT strengthens both departments significantly and has allowed him to play a major role in the management and growth of the company.
Paul Mayne - Software Development Manager
Paul graduated from the University of Tasmania with a combined degree in Engineering and Science majoring in Computer Systems and Computer Science respectively. For his honours project, Paul was awarded the Telstra Prize for Telecommunications and Signal Processing.
Since leaving university Paul has gathered a wide range of industry experience, having worked as a developer and consultant on a large variety of custom projects including Point of Sale, Manufacturing Resource Planning and Financial Trading systems.
Paul manages the implementation and development of all the company's software. He supervises all additions, modifications and customisations and therefore has a significant influence over the strategic direction of the company. Paul also manages training and support for customer organisations, making him an integral part of the Healthcare Software team.
Will Oakley - Marketing Manager
Will has been the marketing manager since early in 2006. He brings to the team an in depth understanding of local and international markets through his work for Tasmanian and overseas businesses.
Will has been one of the driving forces behind the commercialisation of PharmCare. His advanced knowledge of the industry and customer base ensures the company delivers a range of tailored solutions and effectively communicates the right messages to all stake holders.
