eASY medication stewardship

The eASY medication stewardship software solution is a collaborative creation between Healthcare Software (HCS) and the North Sydney Local Health District.

Antimicrobial stewardship refers to coordinated interventions designed to improve and measure the appropriate use of antimicrobials by promoting the selection of the optimal antimicrobial drug regimen, dose, duration of therapy, and route of administration. Antimicrobial stewards seek to achieve optimal clinical outcomes related to antimicrobial use, minimise toxicity and other adverse events, reduce the costs of health care for infections, and limit the selection for antimicrobial resistant strains. Currently, there is significant national and state interest in initiatives designed to optimize use of antimicrobial therapy through antimicrobial stewardship.

eASY is a web-based application is used for antibiotic management to promote:

  • Communication between stakeholders involved in the use of antibiotics by improving accessibility to infectious disease specialists.
  • Streamlining of approvals for accessing selective antibiotics for patients with involvement of experts including pharmacists and ID physicians.
  • Feedback to prescribers and organisation with respect to antibiotic prescribing.
  • Access to local resistance patterns of key pathogens and allows monitoring for any resistance changes.

Making eASY the best choice for antibiotic stewardship for your organisation.

Improved clinical outcomes

Electronic AMS programs reduce inappropriate antimicrobial use (by 22-36%), improve patient outcomes and reduce adverse consequences of antimicrobial use (including antimicrobial resistance, toxicity and unnecessary costs).

Improved practice efficiency or effectiveness

Without eASY, antibiotics are selected for use based on clinician personal knowledge, often at odds with best practice. eASY delivers dynamic decision support to guide clinicians to select the right antibiotic to promote optimal patient outcomes.

Improved ease of use

eASY allows more clinician involvement by assimilating all the relevant data that are required to gain approval for use and rapid access to antibiotics, improving business processes across organisations.

Improved quality

eASY improves hospital systems which are currently mostly paper-based systems for access to antibiotics, whilst an extremely small minority have access to local resistance patterns.

Improved safety

Antibiograms customised to your facility promote more effective antibiotic use that is safer for both current patients and preserves sensitivity of pathogens to currently available common antibiotics.
